Remember Where You Were Two Years Ago
This time of year, the height of wedding season feels so far away. I can’t believe that it was over six months ago that I was sitting in my studio when my assistant Emma said to me, "You're almost there!"
I said, "What do you mean?"
She responded, "I remember in January you said to me that your schedule is basically jam-packed from now until June 3rd. If you can just make it to June 3rd then you'll be good. Well, you're almost there. You have less than a month to go!"
I feel like I've said that a lot through the past few months, "If I can just make it to June 3rd then I'll be good."
The truth is two years ago, I couldn't have dreamed of a better spring wedding season than the one I'm in currently.
I have to remind myself daily (because we've been working our tails off) that the growth in just two years is remarkable and it's ok to be proud of it and to enjoy it a bit more. I also try to remind my team and the vendors we work with that this work is meant to be fun. Yes we have schedules to keep and deadlines to make, but it's not like we're saving lives here. I wholeheartedly believe the joy of the work shines through in the final product.
At the same time, these past few months have been draining. This time has given me a lot of clarity in the direction of how I want to move forward with my business. I think the key is taking it one day at a time. Not being overwhelmed by the extensive to do list that has to get accomplished over the next four weeks, but what has to be accomplished today. Tomorrow, we will deal with tomorrow. Today, let's just focus on today.
In March of last year, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Savannah, GA with my client to create her bouquet for her bridal portrait session. This is hands down my highlight from this full spring season.
